This is the second part in the series. Yesterday, I started this making money online series. In case you missed it, check it here.
General requirements
1. Internet connectivity: it goes without saying that if you want to make money online, you need
to be online! Look for the fastest cheapest and most reliable internet service
provider in your state. Most Nigerians depend on the Telcom companies such as
MTN, Etisalat, Airtel and Glo, but you will be surprised that there are other
cheaper Wifi and Broadband services around if you take time to find out. I already told you I use Glo BIS on my android, browsing with 12gb for just N4, 000. You can either use a phone, phablet, tablet, minilaptop, laptop or PC...as long as it is connected to the internet.
2. Means of Identification: most of the methods require you to identify yourself, apart
from your name and picture, they also want your present location/address. You
can get a Driver’s license, an
international passport, or your national ID card. Just scan it or snap it
with your good camera phone and upload it into your email box. (If you can,
also scan a copy of your Nepa bill
or any other bill that has your house
address on it and upload into your email box, just in case it is required).
Overall, scan and upload all your necessary ID cards and utility bill details into your inbox, for easy retrieval when you need it.
3. Credit/debit card or bank account details: for some of the methods that
require depositing into an online account, e.g stock trading, forex, online betting, etc, and you
will need the 15-digit number on the front of your card, and the 3-digit number
at the back. Or you can just do a bank wire/transfer at your local branch, but
that is a little bit tedious and the charge is higher. (You may also need to
open an online account with such companies as Paypal, Neteller, c-gold, webmoney, etc, for ease of transfer
especially in the case of arbitrage betting). But never put in your details on
any site you don’t trust, and always guard your PIN jealously! Some companies
place restrictions on Nigerians/transacting business using a Nigerian IP
address, e.g Skrill (formerly
Moneybookers), with Paypal you can’t withdraw for now.
Overall, have your bank account number, bank swift code (if it is a Domiciliary account), your debit card details HIDDEN/CODED in your inbox, for easy retrieval.
4. Email address: you
will need an email box, or boxes, depending on how many different methods you
want to choose, and whether or not you want to use 1 email address for all your
online businesses. Try to use different passwords for your online business accounts and your email.
5. Regular power supply: because of the Nigerian situation, you should consider having
a generator or inverter. Or, if you are using your mobile phone or tablet to browse,
buy an extra battery or mobile powerpack/battery recharger.
Please if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. These are the general requirements, some methods might require some more specific requirements, but all in all, they won't be as stressful as getting these ones above. Thanks.
