We Have Moved Sijinius.com To Wordpress

sijinius.com

Hello, I have been away again. Please bear with me as I am (or should I say, we are) going through a transition phase from I to WE.

In the article 'What I didn't tell you about my plan to raise a billion', I mentioned that sijinius.com is a kind of forerunner (#think John the Baptist and Jesus). My plan was, and still is to end up at credicoins.com. And we are almost there now. I have met about 4 different programmers in the last 3 weeks, and every single one of them has mentioned to me that I should make my blog better, and probably move it to wordpress. So I agreed with the company's graphic artist (who incidentally is a very versatile person like me- accountant, graphics designer, web developer, teacher, etc) to move over there. Sijinius.blogspot.com will still be here though.

Though I know, and have always known that wordpress offers more flexibility(I should have been there if not for the Hostgator issues), but I prefer blogger now for many reasons including the fact that it is more difficult to hack into Google's blogger, while not forgetting that blogger is 'relatively' free. lol. And I have kind of developed a fondness for blogger.com. But I welcome the wordpress challenge.

Away from the company and me, let me share with you some of what I have learnt so far about the poor from the book 'Poor Economics', by Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo.

Remember I already told you who the truly poor are.... IF YOU DO NOT SAVE, -WHETHER YOU ARE IN USA, OR PORTUGAL, OR NIGERIA, OR HAITI- IF YOU SPEND EVERY SINGLE PENNY YOU MAKE, THEN YOU ARE POOR!

To the book now, I picked up this lovely quote from the book's foreword, "The book also tells us a lot about where hope lies; why token subsidies might have more than token effects; how to better market insurance; why less may be more in education; why good jobs matter for growth. ...Why hope is vital and knowledge critical, (and) why we have to keep on trying even when the challenge looks overwhelming. Success isn't always as far away as it looks."

I am in Africa. I live among poor people. People who do not know where their next meal will come from. I have doctor friends who have no jobs (not to talk of other graduates who did 4-year courses). I know people who join cooperatives because they want to take loans because the banks will not borrow them loans at a favorable interest rate. I know people who will rob if they are sure they won't be caught because they are convinced the alternative isn't better.

I know people who need hope, and that is why I started this blog. That is why I have incorporated my company. That is why I teach Forex (mostly for free). That is why I give free tips on how to be rich. In fact, that is why I am alive.

I believe God has given me the wisdom and ideas I have in order to give the poor hope. Why? Because I am one of them. I tell people that saving and budgeting and giving and making money didn't come easy for me too. I learnt the hard way. I have made millions, and I have lost millions. But I don't want people to make the same mistakes I have made.

As young as I am, I am already very experienced. I might not have so much money (now) to show for the experience, but I want to have so much students and smiles and Thank Yous, and eventually God's pat-on-the-back. Even if that is all I have, then I am satisfied. At least, I will leave this world knowing I made a difference- changed the world, and left it a better place.

In the coming days, I will finish up my review of what I have learnt from the book. Please stay with me. In the mean time, don't forget how to be very very rich- You have to earn money every single hour of your life (even when you are asleep), more than you spend. THAT IS THE BEDROCK OF PERSONAL FINANCE.

Shalom!

Update (18/04/2015): I have brought it back for now.
