DAY 23: How Does Sex Affect Your Finances: Are You Having Expensive Sex?

SEX! The three-letter word that generates a lot of interest among singles and couples alike, generates a lot of traffic online (ask bloggers and porn websites), and is today being used to market and sell everything.

 YES, SEX SELLS! But are you having expensive sex?

Today, I want you to be honest with yourself. Do you really, really like sex (not necessarily like Tiger Woods oh! Just normal liking)? To what degree are you willing to go to get sex/sexual satisfaction, especially if your partner isn’t around? How much is sex costing you weekly/monthly? 

The answer to these questions will inform you of the way sex and your finances intersect. It will help you know if you are addicted to sex, or porn, -what percentage of your income and time you are spending to gratify your sexual needs.

How does sex intersect with your finances?

In the classic “Think and Grow Rich”, particularly chapter 11: The Mystery of Sex Transmutation, Napoleon Hill talks about channeling your sexual energy into creating wealth. Remember the Law of Conservation of Energy in Physics? Energy cannot be lost, only transformed from one form to another.

He says Sex has three benefits:

1.       The perpetuation of mankind

2.       The maintenance of health (as a therapeutic agency, it has no equal)

3.       The transformation of mediocrity into genius by transmutation

Every man has sexual desires. “When we are driven by it, we develop keenness of imagination, courage, will-power, persistence and imaginative ability unknown to us at other times. So strong and impelling is the desire for sexual contact that men freely run the risk of life and reputation (even loss of their job/means of livelihood) to indulge it”.

But he advises that you don’t repress the desire, instead give it an outlet by ‘transmuting’ it into some creative effort. He says that when men don’t do this; they find a less worthy outlet for their sexual energy.

Scientific research shows us that 1) The men of greatest achievement are men with highly developed sex natures- men who have learned the art of sex transmutation, and 2) the men who have accumulated great fortunes and achieved outstanding recognition in literature, art, industry, and the professions, were motivated by the influence of a woman.

According to a paper published in the journal of Men’s health in September 2013, divorce can take a great mental and physical toll on men. Specifically, divorced and unmarried men have higher rates of mortality, are more prone to substance abuse and depression, are more likely to commit suicide and are ten times more likely to undergo psychiatric care than married men. Seems like we need women more than we admit.

When a person is castrated, impotent or sterile, he/she loses self esteem (‘the fight in him/her’). Sex is very important to be rich. And the ability to channel your sexual energy positively to achieving your financial goals will make you (seem like) a genius.

This is a very important aspect of personal finance as the need for sex, love, sexual intimacy and belongingness is a basic need common to all. This is also well covered in the hierarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow.

 

Do you notice, as a guy, that when you are playing football and some beautiful girls are watching, you seem to play with extra energy, and you want to impress them? Or if you are have a wife, you have the overwhelming desire to provide for her and protect her? That is the effect of the sexual energy. Now, let me summarise today’s tip.

1.       Every matured man/woman has the need to have sex.

2.       We will go to great lengths to satisfy our sexual urge.

3.       Great men are those who have learned, not to repress their sexual desires but, to convert it into creative abilities of making money, and achieving greatness in their chosen profession. And that greatness is a reflection of their choice of whom they have sex with (-sexual/marriage partner).

4.       When you have sex with many people, you diffuse your creative energies. But when you have a single partner, you concentrate and pour into her/him all your energies. If you do that consistently and that feeling is mutual and reciprocated, you produce an exponential, explosive combination that will guarantee success.

5.       If you find out that your sexual cravings are becoming addictive, driving you (instead of the other way round) and costing you a lot of money, seek help today. Don’t forget that no matter how much money you make, if your character is flawed, you will eventually lose your reputation (-Tiger Woods, Bill Clinton, and many other men come to mind).
