True Love is Both Selfish and Jealous...But Unfortunately Not Frugal

Love and money are two delicate and intimate issues in today’s world. And you can't be financially successful if you don't know your heart, and carry out a regular audit of its desires. What do I mean?

On day 5 of our Personal Finance in 31 days series, I wrote that if you want to know how much influence you have over someone, ask them for their money. If they give it to you, then you have significant influence over them.

Why?

That is simply because 'Where your money is, that is where your heart will be' (you will of course, find that in the Bible).

But the reverse also is true; 'Where your heart is, that is also where your money will go'.

Ask religious leaders, and they will quickly confirm this to you. So where is Sijinius driving at with this post? Stay with me.

True love is jealous!

If you truly love something, or someone, you will want them to belong exclusively to you. And that is an acid test for love.

However, true love is also selfish...because by wanting to make (what you) love exclusive to you, you don't want to let it go, or share it with another. You spend a lot of time and money on them, and that is where you might begin to overspend -you are tempted to use your spending/money to prove a point of your love.

Watch you thoughts, they determine (the quality of) your life. So also, watch your heart, they determine your spending habit. If you lose control over your heart, your money will go out and down very fast.

Whether it is on your favorite pet, or celebrity, or habit, or car, or sports club, or spouse, if you can't control your emotions, you won't also close your purse.

It is good to be jealous about your lover, and selfish over your love for them. But allow others do the spending without their love for you dying. (Now don't ask me how to do that. lol)

But importantly, love (logically) with your head before you spend (illogically) with your heart. And you will accelerate yourself towards financial freedom.
