TAKE YOUR STAND

Often times I’m misunderstood.
Often times I’m misquoted
but that does not stop me
from saying what I want to
and doing what I ought to

Often times I’m abused.
Often times I’m stoned
but I’m not moved because
when the use of a thing isn’t
known, misuse is inevitable

Often times I’m hated.
Often times I’m praised
but that does not make me
compromise my stand nor
divert my attention from the truth

Often times I have tried
to please everyone.
But I found out that he
who is compliant and complaisant
ends up frustrated

So what you don’t know, find out.
When you find out, understand.
But if you don’t understand, reject.
What you understand, believe
and take your stand on it anywhere.
