How I Make Money As An Affiliate Marketer

We are still on 40 different ways of making money online, section; Internet Marketing, subsection; Affiliate Marketing. Permit me to use this post to share with you how I make money as an Forex affiliate marketer which is one of the 8 different ways to make money with Forex trading.

Since we are still talking about affiliate marketing, permit me to quickly tell you how I make money as an affiliate marketer in Forex. However, let me tell you how I came about the idea.

One of the foremost internet marketers in the world, whose emails I regularly receive is a prominent affiliate marketer –John Reese. He enlightened me on it a long time ago.

John explained that to make money, good money with affiliate marketing, you need to present yourself as an expert in a field. For example (using his very example), if you like to fish in a small lake at the back of your house, you can start a small blog on that, teaching people how to fish in a small lake, showing pictures of the fishes you catch and generally just using it as a journal of your daily fishing expeditions.

After a while of blogging and after building a following, you can then start an affiliate marketing business of reviewing fishing tools, fishing-related companies and other related products and services, and then direct people to the best ones you have used and now recommend.

You then make money from the commissions paid you for referring customers. He says it is more effective to do that that than just logging into an affiliate program like Google Adsense, Amazon, Clickbank, Shareasale, or Commission Junction, selecting a profitable niche, and expecting to become rich from marketing products and services you have not used or do not fully know yourself.

Affiliate marketing refers to making money as an affiliate of another company, which means you believe in that company’s products or services enough to ask that others consider them and pay for them.

But you must first present yourself as someone who knows what he is talking about. This is also what distinguishes successful marketers from unsuccessful ones. This is the basis of affiliate marketing, or any marketing at all.

I have been trading Forex for more than 8 years though as an amateur/hobby. But late last year, I decided to trade Forex (professionally) for clients and I also teach Forex. Over the years of Forex trading, I have used a couple of brokers (-there are over 200 of them).

I am not limited to Forex in making money as an affiliate marketer since I also blog about personal finance. But until I establish myself as an expert in that, I can’t effectively make money from marketing personal finance products.

So anyone out there who wants to make money from affiliate marketing should be ready to do the work of building a followership and becoming an expert in a niche before directing people to products and services in that niche (unless you want to go into Multilevel Marketing (MLM) which I will talk about next in this section of internet marketing- that does not require you becoming an expert or having a blog at all).
